    As part of the 10th anniversary celebration at the Laois Arthouse, a panel discussion entitled Till Something Moves…will take place on Saturday 12th March, 2pm – 5pm.  This event will explore how to create the optimum conditions for sustaining creative work as visual artists and writers, and what role do Studio Spaces and Residencies play in creating space and opportunity for focus?  A number of the exhibiting 64 artists will be in attendance.     In Trust. In Gratitude. In Hope. 10 Years at the Laois Arthouse, is an exhibition featuring the work of over 60 artists who have been part of the Laois Arthouse programme since its establishment in 2011 by Laois County Council Arts Service.  This anniversary exhibition is a unique opportunity for the artists and Laois County Council to celebrate the achievement of 10 years of exhibition making, artist hosting and creative place making with the surrounding community of Stradbally, County Laois and beyond.

    The exhibition curated by Clonaslee native Monica Flynn was formally opened by Kevin Kavanagh of Kevin Kavanagh Gallery Dublin on 4th December, 2021 and is open to all members of the public, including groups and schools until Friday 27th May, 2022.  The exhibition is accompanied by a publication available to purchase at Laois Arthouse or Arts Office Laois County Council.

    Cruinniú na nÓg 2021 Open Call Grant Scheme

    Laois County Council – Creative Ireland Laois is seeking artists to create and deliver a programme of activities/ events to celebrate Cruinniú na nÓg on Saturday 11 June,  2022.

    We are inviting applications from creative practitioners, artists, and art organisations /groups  (including a team of creative practitioners) who have the capacity to devise, facilitate and deliver creative content and activities for children and young people in any medium or artform (examples include theatre, music, circus, street art, performance, fashion, photography, digital arts, installation art, literature, storytelling, architecture, coding, biodiversity, folklife, heritage, archaeology, landscape), in specific town or village in Laois.

    Everyone with an interest in wetlands and wildlife is welcome to this evening event in Mountrath on March 10th to celebrate the wetlands of Laois, discuss the ongoing survey, share information on the wetlands of the county and people who look after them.

    Equipment Grant Scheme

    The Equipment Grant Scheme is for creative and cultural individuals and/or groups living and operating in Laois. The grant can be used only for the purchase of equipment that contributes to creative and cultural activities within Laois. A maximum grant of €1000 only will be awarded to an individual or group.

    Deadline for submissions of applications is 4pm on Thursday, March 24

    ‘Made in Laois’ Grant Scheme

    The ‘Made in Laois’ Grant Scheme aims to bring together a creative practitioner / organisation and collaborate with a local community / communities of place and interest. The grant scheme is only for co-creation and collaborative initiatives that contribute to creative and cultural activities within Laois. The amount awarded will be based on the quality of application with a maximum grant of €2000
    per successful application.

    Deadline for submissions of applications is 4pm on Monday, March 21

    Culture Night Conversations 2022 at the Dunamaise Arts Centre 7th March

    Monday 7th March 11am -1pm – at the Dunamaise Arts Centre –  Ahead of Culture Night 2022 (Fri 23 September) the Arts Council will host a series of nationwide meetings to share and discuss the findings from its research report and post event analysis from 2021. The conversations will offer a forum for Culture Night organisers to discuss emerging trends from organisers, audiences and artists and work towards Culture Night 2022 being the best it can be.  Sinéad O’Reilly, Head of Local, Place and Public Art, Arts Council and Maria Moynihan Lee, Director of Milestone Inventive and national coordinator of Culture Night will host the meetings.     Sat 12 March (14:00 – 17:00)

    at the Laois Arthouse Stradbally, Co. Laois.

    Led by the wonderful Cristín Leach with contributions from exhibiting artists Mary Burke, Jen Donnery, Martin Gale and poet Pat Boran.  Taking our event title from a line within Pat Boran’s specially commissioned poem, The Window Seat, the discussion will circle the theme of creative renewal with artists discussing how they nourish their creative practices and create the optimum conditions for sustaining their work as writers and visual artists. We will also examine what role Studio Spaces and Residencies play in creating space and opportunity for focus. Roundtable (14:00 – 15:00)  (15:00 – 17:00) Tea & Coffee and a chance to view the exhibition, films and the Arthouse facilities
