    I HEREBY GIVE YOU NOTICE THAT:

    1. The latest date for the receipt of Appeals in respect of the Register of Electors of the County of Laois in advance of the Local and European Elections shall be Wednesday 22nd May 2024.
    2. All such Appeals will be heard by the County Registrar for the County of Laois, sitting at the Courthouse, Portlaoise, Co Laois and should be directed by post or personal delivery to that address.

  • Ceremony of Remembrance and Reflection, Sunday, 20th March 2022, 5.00 pm, Fitzmaurice Place, Portlaoise.

    Laois County Council are hosting a Ceremony of Remembrance and Reflection on Sunday 20th March 2022 at 5.00 pm at Fitzmaurice Place, Portlaoise to remember those that lost their lives during the pandemic and to pay tribute to those who contributed to how we faced and are facing the challenges arising from same.  The event will broadly reflect the national event, will include poetry reading and music together with a wreath laying ceremony.

     

    All are welcome to attend.

  • Glow Red for World Aids Day – 30th November to 1st December 2021

    Laois County Council is supporting the annual illumination event to combat stigma associated with HIV and AIDS called “Glow Red for World AIDS Day” – #GlowRed4WAD by illuminating Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise on the evening of the 30th November through to 1st December to mark the occasion.

     

    The event is spearheaded by HIV Ireland, Ireland’s only national charitable organisation dedicated to combating HIV and HIV-related stigma. This year, the event will mark the 40th Anniversary of the emergence of HIV and AIDS as a global epidemic in 1981Since then, more than 9,000 people living in Ireland have acquired HIV and rates of HIV continue to rise. Tackling HIV related stigma helps to reduce rates of HIV transmission.

    Hashtags being used across social media platforms for the event #GLOWRED4WAD,  #WorldAIDSDay,  #HIV and #stigma.

    HIV Ireland are also encouraging people to wear red and show your support to end HIV and HIV-related stigma. Tag them on Twitter @HIVIreland with your pictures wearing red using the hashtag #GLOWRED4WAD.
