  • Road Closure – Mountmellick to Tullamore Road

    In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby gives notice of its decision to temporarily close the N80 Mountmellick to N52 Tullamore.

    Works will require a road closure on the N80 Graigue to Forest Upper, Co. Laois for a distance of 3.4km beginning on

    Monday 9th October 2017 from 07:00 until Friday, 10th November 2017 at 18:00.

    Access for residents will be accommodated where possible. Diversions will be clearly signposted via R423 & R420.

  • Old Abbeyleix Road, Portlaoise – Temporary Road Closure

    ROAD CLOSED to public traffic to allow Gaeltec Utilities Ltd to clear a ducting blockage. Access for residents will be accommodated where possible. Diversions will be clearly signposted.

  • Road Works N80 Portlaoise to Mountmellick

    ROAD Works on the N80 at Clonsoghey on the road from Portlaoise to Mountmellick for patching works to repair edge failure to carriageway.Traffic management will consist of Stop/Go and there will be some disruption to traffic.

  • Temporary Road Closure – Kennels Cross Road to Mountmellick

    ROAD CLOSED to public traffic for 6 days to allow for the installation of a culvert crossing. Access for residents will be accommodated each side of the works area. Diversions routes will be clearly signposted.

    Emergency Services will not be able to pass through the works area (NO THROUGH ROAD).  Diversion routes should be followed to gain access to either side of the works area.

  • Roadworks – N80 Mountmellick to Tullamore Road

    Resurfacing works will be commencing on the N80 Graigue to Forest Upper, Co. Laois on Monday the 25th of September. Works will be approximately 6 weeks in duration with no works taking place at weekends. Stop/Go system will be in place.

  • Railway Street, Portlaoise – Temporary Closure

    ROAD CLOSED to public traffic to allow for tree surgery works. Access for residents will be accommodated where possible. Diversions will be clearly signposted.
    At the following location: Railway Street, Portlaoise –  closed between its junction with Church Street and the junction with Main Street as indicated in red on the map below.

  • Weather Warning

    Following on from Met Eireann’s Orange Weather Warning, Laois County Council wishes to advise that due to the expected significant falls of snow on Saturday night and throughout Sunday, accumulations of 4 to 8 cm are expected quite widely with greater totals possible, an extreme frost of minus 4 degrees C is expected Sunday night and Monday morning which will lead to treacherous conditions on roads due to compacted snow and ice.

    Extreme caution is advised when travelling and all drivers are asked to slow down and drive in a manner appropriate to the conditions on the road.
