    In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it is to temporarily close Main Street, Portlaoise on Friday 23rd June, 2017 from 12 noon. The street will remain closed until 07.00 a.m. on Monday 26th June, 2017. The closure is necessary to accommodate The Old Fort Festival.   • The Old Fort Festival

  • M7 Road Closure

    In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby serves notice that it proposes to temporarily close the M7 motorway to through traffic on the eastbound off-ramp at Junction 16 and on the eastbound off-ramp at Junction 15, on the nights of the 10th July 2017, and the 17th July 2017, to facilitate pavement maintenance to be carried out.

    The works will be undertaken utilising a phased approach and diversions, with diverted traffic directed to follow signage along an alternative route. Only one diversion will be put in place at any one time between adjacent junctions. The closures are planned for the following areas:

    • the eastbound off-ramp of Junction 16; and
    • the eastbound off-ramp of Junction 15.
    Diversions are to be put in place between 22:00 to 06:00.
    Maps of the diversion routes are available for inspection at www.laois.ie and Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise.

  • Heartlands Rally Temporary Road Closure

    In accordance with the provisions of Section 75 of the above Act and Article 12 of the Roads Regulations, 1994, Laois County Council hereby give notice of its decision to temporarily close the following roads in the vicinity of The Heath and Derryguile between 08.00a.m and 18.00 p.m. on 11th June, 2017. The closure is necessary to facilitate the Heartlands Rally for Laois Rally Sports Club. The following is a list of roads which are to be closed:-

    Stage 2

    The Laois Rally Sports Club will be erecting the appropriate signage and arranging manned points to divert traffic to the alternative route. Local access will be provided in emergencies. A map indicating the routes to be closed and the alternative routes will be available for inspection at www.laois.ie and Áras an Chontae, Portlaoise. Participants of the rally will not be permitted to view the maps.
